What Is Bacteriostatic Water?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, used for reconstituting lyophilized peptides and medications.
Preservative Protection
The 0.9% benzyl alcohol acts as a bacteriostatic agent, inhibiting microbial growth and allowing multiple uses from a single vial over a 28-day period.
Peptide-Safe Formula
Specifically formulated to maintain peptide stability during reconstitution without degrading active compounds or affecting research results.
Pharmaceutical Grade
Manufactured under strict USP guidelines ensuring the highest level of purity, sterility, and consistency for research applications.
Why You Need Bacteriostatic Water
Using the right solvent for reconstitution is critical for accurate research results and safety.
Proper Reconstitution
Bacteriostatic water is the standard solvent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides, ensuring proper dissolution while maintaining compound integrity.
Contamination Prevention
The benzyl alcohol preservative prevents bacterial growth, making it safe for multiple withdrawals from a single vial unlike sterile water.
Cost Efficiency
The 28-day multi-use window means one vial of BAC water can be used across multiple reconstitutions, reducing waste and overall research costs.
Reliable Results
Consistent pharmaceutical-grade quality ensures your reconstitution process is standardized, leading to reproducible and reliable research outcomes.
How to Reconstitute Peptides
Follow these steps for proper peptide reconstitution using bacteriostatic water.
Gather Your Supplies
You will need your lyophilized peptide vial, bacteriostatic water, alcohol swabs, and an appropriately sized syringe (typically insulin syringe).
Clean the Vial Tops
Swab the rubber stoppers of both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial with alcohol pads. Allow them to dry completely before proceeding.
Draw the BAC Water
Using a clean syringe, draw the desired amount of bacteriostatic water. The amount depends on your desired concentration.
Add Water to Peptide
Insert the needle into the peptide vial at an angle, letting the water run gently down the side of the vial. Do not spray directly onto the lyophilized powder.
Mix Gently
Allow the peptide to dissolve naturally. You can gently swirl the vial but never shake it. Store reconstituted peptides refrigerated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which inhibits bacterial growth and allows for multiple uses over 28 days. Sterile water has no preservative and must be used immediately after opening.
Once the vial has been punctured, bacteriostatic water can be safely used for up to 28 days when stored properly. After 28 days, discard the vial and use a fresh one.
Store unopened vials at controlled room temperature (20-25ยฐC / 68-77ยฐF). After opening, you may store at room temperature or refrigerated. Keep away from direct sunlight.
Yes. Every batch is third-party tested with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) available. Our BAC water is manufactured under USP guidelines.
The amount varies depending on the peptide and your desired concentration. Common reconstitution volumes range from 1mL to 3mL per vial.
